Southern Jam
Over the weekend we went to the Bolingbroke Southern Jam which benefited an incredible guy with an incredible story. Beau Slocumb is a young local race car driver who was preparing to take his career to the next step when he learned he had cancer. Not just any cancer but a very rare form and he spent the next five or six months in Texas receiving treatment and getting better. He is now at home, in remission and getting stronger so he can continue pursuing his dream. The event raised money for the Slocumb family so it was all for a great cause and there was an incredible turnout! It was in a great big field and there were blankets, lawn chairs and coolers everywhere. There was a stage with live entertainment, there was good food, lots of conversation and just a good time! We saw so many people we don't usually get to see and the kids had a ball running in the wide open space. I hope they make it a yearly event!
