Bella Grace's First Birthday Bash

Yesterday we celebrated our baby girl's first birthday. We just had our immediate family over for BBQ and all the fixins and then we dove into the cake which was almost too pretty to eat! We had a great night of fellowship as we loved on an celebrated one of our most precious gifts, Bella Grace. She loved all the attention and every one singing to her but she wasn't so wild about her cake but of course she did agree to try some when her Daddy served it to her. She got lots of great gifts and even her first diamonds! Gann gave BG her first pair of diamond earrings and they are so sweet! She does love jewelry and I laughed at her last night because after everyone was gone and she and I were going through her cards and gifts she picked up that jewelry box and carried it around with her for the rest of the night! Here are some highlights from Bella G's first year:

She was born on May 14, 2008 at 8:14 a.m.; she was delivered by Dr. Eric (same guy who delivered her brother three yrs. before) and our next door neighbor, Dr. Leigh

Bella was quiet as a mouse in the hospital but soon after we got home she cried and cried and cried and around week 3 Dr. Bush informed us it was colic. We had a rough time for the first eight weeks or so but at then it passed and she was sleeping soundly through the night between 8 and 9 weeks.

Bella started crawling around six months but she always prefers to be carried and then by eleven months she was walking all over the place! She also cut her first two teeth around 7 months and I guess she is content with just those two as that is still all she has!

We have had lots of ear infections, colds and sinus trouble but most of all we have had laughs, smiles, lots of hand clapping, reading, dancing and singing! Bella Grace is an absolute cuddle bug and she loves to be held and loved on. She is not extremely particular about whose arms she's in as long as it is somebody's. She prefers her Daddy over anybody in the world but friends and family will do in a pinch as well as Ms. Pat, Ms. Audra and Ms. Katherine at daycare or any of the ladies at church during SS and worship. She even loves for Lawson to tote her around!

We are so thankful for the gift of Bella Grace and my next post will likely be a reflection on the last four years with Lawson as we are preparing to celebrate his birthday with a party tomorrow. Don't tell him but I hear Scooby Doo is going to make an apperance!
